Guwahati News Desk: Two government school teachers, including a woman, were shot dead by terrorists in the Eidgah area of Srinagar on Thursday.
As informed by the police officials, the terrorists fired from a close range at two teachers in a government higher secondary school at about 11:15 am.
As per the reports, the slain teachers are the principal of the school, Supinder Kaur and a Kashmiri Pandit teacher, Deepak Chand.
According to sources, both the teachers died on the spot. The police further informed that the area has been cordoned off and a hunt has been launched to nail the attackers.
Moreover, Thursday’s killings come two days after the terrorists shot a local Pandit and a well-known pharmacist in Srinagar, Makhan Lal Bindroo, was killed when he was in his shop, a non-local vendor and a taxi driver in Kashmir.
In addition, The Resistance Front (TRF), which the police believe is a front for the Pakistan based Laskhar-e-Taiba (LeT) claimed responsibility for the killing of Bindroo, stating that he was killed because he worked for the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
However, the J&K Director General of Police Dilbag Singh asserted that the killings were done “to create a communal situation” and to instil a sense of fear among the minorities. He also said that the killing of civilians was a worrying trend.
Furthermore, several protesters at Ghanta Ghar in Srinagar on Wednesday, took part in a candle light vigil against the killings done by militants, that included the murder of Bindroo.
