Guwahati News Desk: The veteran journalist Vinod Dua breathed his last at the age of 67 in Delhi on Monday.
As confirmed by his daughter Mallika Dua in a social media post, he was suffering from prolonged illness following a Covid infection.
However, last week Dua was moved to the Intensive Care Unit of Apollo Hospital in Delhi on the advice of doctors, but he eventually succumbed to his illness on Monday.
According to sources, the last rites of the well-known journalist will be performed at the Lodhi crematorium on Sunday.
His daughter, Mallika Dua took to her Instagram Stories to express her feelings, where she wrote, “He is now with our mom, his beloved wife Chinna in heaven where they will continue to sing, cook, travel and drive each other up the wall.”
Regarding the prominent Dua, he was a pioneer in Hindi journalism, with stints at Doordarshan and NDTV. He was honoured with several awards for his contribution to journalism. His legacy transcends the 80s, 90s, the 2000s and in his last avatar, on digital new age media. He was known to have revolutionised election coverage in India. He was also awarded the Padma Shri for Journalism in 2008 by the Government of India.
Moreover, both Vinod Dua and his wife were in a hospital in Gurgaon when the second COVID-19 wave was at its peak. However, his wife passed away in June, 2021, and Dua continued to struggle with his health ever since.
Furthermore, Dua is survived by two daughters, the comic-actor Mallika Dua and a clinical psychologist Bakul Dua.
