Guwahati News Desk: 10 children has reportedly died due to COVID-19 at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), says State Health Minister Keshab Mahanta on Monday.
It was informed when the health minister visited GMCH to review the COVID-19 situation.
On the other hand, new 300 beds have been set up for children at GMCH to treat COVID-19.
According to the sources, over 34 thousand COVID-19 cases in children under 18 years reported in the State since the month of April.
As per sources, over 34 minor deaths were reported in the State in the last three months.
Health Minister Keshab Mahanta said, “GMCH has reported 10 deaths of children ageing 14 years due to COVID-19 so far as there are still more children who are currently under treatment”.
Health Minister also added that the health department are prepared with all facilities during the hard times to fight against Japanese Encephalitis.
According to the sources, the State has reported two deaths due to Japanese Encephalitis so far.
