Guwahati News Desk: 34 people have been reported dead, due to the incessant rainfalls and landslides in the hilly state of Uttarakhand.

As per the sources, the 34 people who lost their lives, included of labourers from Nepal who were buried alive by rubble, and people from Champawat district, where a house collapsed after a landslide.

Assuring the people, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said, “Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Shah have been briefed on the situation. Houses, bridges etc. have been damaged and people have died so far. Three (Army) helicopters to be deployed for rescue operations.”

In addition, asking the Aam Aadmi Party workers to help the people in Uttarakhand, the Chief Minister of Delhi and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal wrote a Twitter post that read, “Distressing news about damage caused by calamity is coming from Uttarkhand. I pray to Baba Kedarnath for everybody’s safety. Appeal to all workers of the Aam Aadmi Party to help people in every possible way in this difficult time.”

Meanwhile, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) in Uttarakhand has actively deployed teams that have been conducting overnight rescue operations across the state.
