Guwahati News Desk: Taiwan reported of 38 Chinese military jets flying into its air defence zone on Friday.
According to sources, this is being considered as the largest incursion by Beijing till date.
As per the information provided by the defence ministry, the planes, including nuclear-capable bombers, entered the area in two waves.
According to the island’s defense ministry, Taiwan deployed air patrol forces in response and tracked the Chinese aircrafts on its air defense systems.
Taiwan further responded by scrambling its jets and deploying missile systems.
Moreover, China sees democratic Taiwan as a breakaway province, but Taiwan sees itself as a sovereign state.
According to sources, China has sent the planes toward the island, that it claims as part of its territory on a near daily basis in the last couple of years, stepping up military harassment with drills.
As informed by Taiwan Premier Su Tseng-chang on Saturday, “China has been wantonly engaged in military aggression, damaging regional peace.”
Meanwhile, the government in Beijing which is marking 72 years since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, has so far made no public comment.
