Guwahati News Desk: The Enforcement branches of Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) conducted an inspection drive of the ‘Trade License’ in the area of Beltola in Guwahati. In its drive against illegally operating guest houses in the area, the GMC conducted raids on various guest houses and has imposed fines on five guest houses that were found guilty. The GMC has also served notices to the trades as per provisions of the GMC act.
According to reports, during the inspection drive by GMC, a total of 5 guest houses were thoroughly inspected which were caught running their guest houses illegally without any valid trade license or Non-renewal of trade license. And Among the 5 guest houses running the lodging establishments illegally, two were operating trades without having any license with them.
After being found guilty, the municipal body penalized the five guest houses by imposing heavy fines. The guest houses were identified as running with the name SSB Guest Houses, Nirvana Guest Houses, Pratishtha Guest Houses, Falguni Niwas Guest House and Beltola Guest Houses. The two guest houses operating with any license are identified as SSB Guest House and Pratishtha Guest House.
In the Twitter account of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC), it shared the information that a total of 5 guest houses were inspected during the drive that was found operating their business without valid trade licenses. It added fines were slapped and official notice has been provided to all of them as per the provisions mentioned in the Act of Guwahati Municipal Corporation. The GMC further informed that a total of Rupees 30,000 was collected during the inspection drive as per penalty.
