Guwahati News Desk: At least six Assam Police personnel were killed in a massive shootout that took place at Lailaput in Cachar district on Monday.
According to the reports, a civilian was also killed in the crossfire.
The Assam Police personnel died during a shootout with Mizoram Police as during the clash vehicles of Deputy Commissioner of Cachar was also damaged.
During the border clash with Mizoram at least 67 people were injured including civilians in the Cachar district.
The injured people were immediately admitted to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital.
The major outbreak of the incident took place in the Assam-Mizoram border as eight farm huts belonging to Mizo farmers were burned down by unidentified miscreants on Sunday which leads major chaos in the State borders.
Soon after the incident, the Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma directed minister Pijush Hazarika to visit immediately in the border area and take stock of the escalating situation.
CM Sarma expressed his willingness to visit the capital city Aizawl and resolve the prevailing border issues.
