6 Jammat-ul-Mujahideen terror outfit cadres convicted by NIA: Guwahati

Guwahati News Desk: Six cadres of the terror outfit Jammat-ul-Mujahideen (JMB) of Bangladesh who were arrested in the Barpeta module case in 2019 have been convicted by an NIA special court in Guwahati on Tuesday.

The accused Hafizur Rahman, Yaqub Ali, Shariful Islam, Mustafur Rahmab, Hafiz Shafiqur Islam and Azharuddin Ahmed were arrested by NIA from Barpeta in 2019 and later on 2020, a charge sheet we as filed against them.

The NIA recovered weapons and ammunition along with Jihadi literature from them which was carried to commit terror activities.

The NIA confirmed that all the arrested accused were the members of the JMB which was prescribed in India and Bangladesh.

According to the sources, the six arrested were the trained JNB members which has active connections with JMB extremist Sahanur Alom who were required by Sahanur Alom of Barpeta district.

Sahanur Alom earlier got arrested by the NIA while probing the Burdwan blast case of October 10, 2014.
