Guwahati News Desk: A devastating traffic jam in Maligaon-Kamakhya road in Guwahati has created havoc among the commuters due to the construction of the new flyover in Guwahati.

The ongoing construction of the Maligaon-Kamakhya flyover was going on to reduce the traffic of the road and will reduce the time for the commuters who were commuting towards Adabari without waiting in the signal.

Guwahatians was excited about the newly ongoing construction bridge but currently, it has affected all by creating huge traffic as the current road does not have any link road to avoid the massive traffic.

In the Maligaon road, multiple police points connecting Boragaon, Kamakhya Railway Station, Pandu, NFR Headquarters, Railway Colony, and after the completion of the bridge vehicles can directly drive over the flyover in less time.

On daily basis, the traffic starts from the early morning 8 am till the curfew timing as mostly before the curfew timing the traffic was seen from Bharalu to Maligaon which covers long-distance traffic. During the time of traffic, most of the two-wheelers were seen taking the wrong road to avoid the traffic and it affects the other lane vehicles too.

Around 5.6 km traffic was reported from Kalipur to Maligaon flyover before the curfew timing every day. The construction of the bridge is going full-on as its completion will reduce the traffic of the Maligaon area hopefully.

The main motive of the government of Assam is to construct the flyover to minimize the regular traffic in Maligaon and people can move towards the city from Guwahati International Airport, AIIMS, and other places without any hardship.

The Maligaon to Kamakhya Gate flyover will cover a distance of 2.9 km as it is the longest flyover and a part of the Guwahati Smart City Project constructed under the Public Works Department (PWD). The total budget of the projects is worth Rs 420.75 crore. The flyover is expected to be completed within the next three years.
