Guwahati News Desk: A heart wrenching incident of a house collapsing in Keshoraipatan town in Bundi district of Rajasthan, following the incessant rains, caused the death of seven members of a family, including – four children, two women and a man on Wednesday.
The incident happened at 2.30 am on Wednesday.
According to officials, a security wall was built on the banks of Chambal a few years back by the municipality to prevent soil erosion from the mound near Naav Ghat. But due to incessant rain, the security wall crashed and fell on the house.
As per the sources, the seven members who got buried under the rubble due to the sudden collapse of the house, belonged to the family of two brothers, namely Mahavir and Mahendra Kewat, residing near the Naav Ghat.
The bodies of the deceased were eventually pulled out from the rubble and were kept in the mortuary till the filing of the report.
As stated by the sources, there were eight people in the house at the time of the incident. The names include of – The 40 year-old, Meera (wife of Mahavir); 9 year- old Tamanna (daughter of Mahavir); 35 year-old Mahendra; 32 year-old Anita, (wife of Mahendra); 10 year-old Khushi (daughter of Mahendra);7 year-old Deepika (daughter of Mahendra) and the 5 year-old Kanha (son of Mahendra).
Among the eight, Mahavir came out of the house immediately after hearing the sound of the collapse. He also took out daughter Tamanna and wife Meera. But by then, the daughter had died. However, his wife was admitted to Kota MBS Hospital where she succumbed during treatment.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Nitiraj Singh has informed that a rescue operation is still going on in the affected area.
