Guwahati News Desk: A shocking incident reported in England after a 72-year-old British man tested positive for COVID-19 for 10 months.
According to the researchers, it has been the longest recorded case of continuous infection.
The person was identified as Dave Smith, a retired driving instructor a residence of Bristol in western England. Smith tested positive 43 times and was hospitalised seven times.
Dave Smith’s wife Linda was under quarantine with him several times as they had thought they would not survive anymore.
A consultant Ed Moran of the University of Bristol and North Bristol NHS Trust says a paper on his case will be presented at the European Congress of Clinical Microbiology & Infectious Diseases in July.
According to the researchers, the COVID-19 positive cases of Dave Smith is recorded as the largest infected recorded.
According to the sources, Smith recovered after treatment with a cocktail of synthetic antibodies developed by the US biotech firm Regeneron.
Smith has a history of hypersensitivity pneumonitis which a condition that caused inflammation of his lung tissue.
He also diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia, a slower progressing cancer that affects the white blood cell in his body. Therefore his body compromising the body’s ability to fight deadly infections.
