Guwahati News Desk: After the formation of the new government of Assam, more than 1100 drug peddlers were arrested by Assam Police across the State from May, says Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Over 600 cases were registered by Assam Police to combat a fight against drug. Assam Police has started a tough fight against the peddlers and successfully breaking the chain supply of drugs.
In a tweet, Assam CM Sarma has informed that 1142 persons were arrested so far and 659 cases were registered in a ‘War on Drugs’ campaign launched by CM himself at the time of joining as a new Chief Minister of Assam.
Assam CM Sarma is taking a much-needed step to make Assam free from illegal drugs which have ruining much life of youths and constantly destroying society and home.
Assam Police who were doing tremendous work against the peddlers has stated that the drug ring in the State has weakened after a huge seizure of drugs including multiple arrests across the State in the campaign.
According to the data provided by the Assam CM, 16.29 kg of Heroin, 6687.25 kg of Ganja, 6,42,447 Yaba tablets including other drugs were seized since May 10 which had a value in crores in the international market.
On the other hand, total cash worth Rs 79,91,060 we’re also seized at the time of operation against drugs.
Chief Minister Sarma has tweeted, “#Assam is firm on its ‘Zero Tolerance Policy’ against narcotics. @AssamPolice has been decisively and with determination, fighting against the menace & has made e significant success in past 43 days, since May 10. Kudos! Keep up the exemplary work!”.
