Guwahati News Desk: A student of seventh semester of Tezpur University has committed suicide in her hostel room. Reportedly, the body of the girl named Aditi Swar found in her hostel room on Friday morning.
According to reports, the she had not open the door of her room for a long time following which staffs opened the door and found her dead body. She was a resident of Dibrugarh district in Assam and here she was living in the girl’s hostel named Kapili in the university premises.
Registrar of the University, Dr. Biren Das, while speaking to local sources informed that the girl was studying in Chemical Science Department and she hailed from Dibrugarh.
“On receiving the information from our end, Magistrate from district administration accompanied by Barghat Police outpost rushed to the hostel and recovered the body which was found hanging. The body has been taken to Kanaklata Civil Hospital for autopsy,” said Das.
According to sources, the University was conducting the end semester exams for which the deceased didnât report on time leading to the suspicious. After which, her body was found inside the hostel room.
The body has now been sent for Post Mortem and the results of autopsy are yet to return. Though suspected to be suicide, the Police has launched an investigation.
Meanwhile, the University officials have enacted a full-fledged suicide prevention drive that will include mental health counselling for enrolled students from trained professionals.
