Sukalpa Dhar: It was a bright sunny day in the month of May 2019 and the Public Relations Society of India Guwahati Chapter had arranged a meeting of the senior Public Relation Officers (PROs). The venue of the meeting was at the State Museum Auditorium, Guwahati. The auditorium was quite big. Many senior Public Relation practitioners came to attend the meeting. It was good time then as the deadly Covid19 was yet to spread it’s wicked hands on our lives and towards our dear planet called earth. Most probably I was the youngest one to attend the meeting that day. I was sitting alone at the corner of the auditorium. Suddenly an aged person came and sat near me. He introduced himself to me and asked my name. I replied I’m Sukalpa Dhar. He said he was Mr. Akramul Islam. Mr. Akramul Islam is a writer and literary pensioner and a sports awardee. He is very tall, fit, energetic, jolly, friendly, easygoing, sociable gentleman. He has an affable personality. We gossiped about many things.
There was a stage in the auditorium and a podium was placed on the stage. One by one the speakers came up and delivered their speeches and performed to the audience entertaining them. A lady sang a beautiful Assamese song. Interestingly, though I’m not a practicing public relation man, I was also asked to say something. I have forgotten what I had said but undoubtedly it was a great honour for me. I was feeling very special. In the meeting all the senior public relation officers were being felicitated.
Then Mr. Nurul Islam Laskar arrived at the meeting. He was also being felicitated in the same way with a beautiful gamosa. I went near him and met him. I was meeting him after many days. He was very cordial and greeted me with a smile. He knows me since my childhood days. He was my father’s colleague at the State Bank of India. He is very vibrant and jolly. We sat together. We chatted a lot. It was a lovely day. Recently, Mr. Nurul Islam Laskar has written a book titled “Beyond Soft Skills”. The book is published by the Blue Rose Publishers. The price of the book is Rs 220/-. The book is available on Blue Rose Store, Amazon and Flipkart. I congratulate him on this occasion.
As I am very keen in the subjects of writing, singing, interacting, meeting celebrities, meeting singers, actors etc the field of public relation always attracts me. I always want to attend social functions. I love to sing and perform on stages. I’m a passionate singer, performer. I am a writer too. I am a blogger. I run a YouTube channel of my own. It’s name is Sukalpa Dhar. It has 176 subscribers. Basically it deals with entertainment. As we all know that nowadays people love only 3 Es. That is Entertainment, Entertainment and Entertainment. I also run my own show named ‘THE SUKALPA DHAR SHOW’ in my youtube channel. I have already done 5 episodes in it. I love to create contents for my YouTube channel. Many people have told me that they like my show very much.
I’m an avid reader. I love reading books. My favourite writer is Ruskin Bond. Books help us understand the world around us more vividly. Books create a profound impact in our minds. Public relation is the practice of managing and disseminating information from an individual or an organization to the public in order to affect their public perception. Everyone does public relations in his or her level. Whenever a writer writes a book he or she wants that the public should read his or her book. Whenever a singer or a music director releases a song he or she wants the song to reach to the public’s ears and in due course it becomes popular. The word popular itself means liked by many people or by most people in a group. Public Relations is a very powerful tool for the filmmakers too.
I would like to conclude by saying that my day with the senior public relation officers turned really an exciting one and the honour I got from all the senior members is undoubtedly a moment to be cherished and remembered forever.
