Guwahati News Desk: Ghanshyam Nayak, who is known for his splendid portrayal of the popular role of “Nattu Kaka” in the television series Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, passed away on Sunday.
The 76-year-old veteran actor was battling cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy.
However, the seasoned actor breathed his last at 5:30 pm, on Sunday.
The news of his demise has shook the entire cast and crew of his show, who are extremely saddened by the heart wrenching news.
Paying tribute to Nayak, the director of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, Malav Rajda, took to Instagram and wrote, “Ghanshyam bhai know you since i was a child wen u use to do plays with my dad…loved you then and loved you now…and you will always be loved by everyone who knew you…still have to come across such a jovial, lovable and a selfless man like you…thank you for always showering ur love and blessings on me…you will be really missed a lot…love you natu kaka..”
The show’s producer, Asit Kumarr Modi, shared the news on Twitter, posting the actor’s photo and writing “Om Shanti” in Hindi.
Jennifer Mistry, who plays Roshan Kaur Sodhi, in the show, said, “We just got to know about the news and it is extremely sad we have lost him.”
Tanmay Vekeria, who plays Bagga, said, “He was a gem and was closest to me. He tried his best to work again with us but his health did not permit. I am very saddened that he is gone.”
Regarding Ghanshyam Nayak’s journey as an actor, he has done more than 100 Gujarati and Hindi films. He has starred in over 350 television shows. Besides Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, he was also known for his roles in shows like “Khichdi” and “Sarabhai vs Sarabhai.”
Although the actor was suffering from such a deadly illness, it did not deter him from working. Infact, the actor had shared that his last wish was to die with makeup on.
