Guwahati News Desk: Soon after the Taliban took over Afghanistan’s capital, Kabul, on Sunday, the embattled President Ashraf Ghani along with National Security Adviser Hamdullah Muhib fled the country, setting the stage for the insurgents to regain power in Afghanistan 20 years after a US-led military invasion ousted them.

The citizens of Afghanistan express their fear over the ongoing scenario, after witnessing the horrifying violence of the Taliban, that took place 20 years ago.

In an attempt to justify his action, Ghani said that he left Afghanistan to‘avoid bloodshed.’

However, this act of Ghani, left the citizens of Afghanistan disheartened and terrified.

Also, feeling betrayed by both the government forces as well as the US, the Afghan citizens said, “They sold all of us.”

Moreover, after the swift takeover of Kabul on Sunday, the situation remains extremely critical at the Hamid Karzai International airport as the citizens are trying to come up with a way to leave Afghanistan at any cost as soon as possible.

Several media outlets and netizens posted videos showing the utter chaos that took place at the Kabul airport, where the desperate people were seen crowding the overhead departure gangway at the airport in a serious attempt to leave the war-torn nation.

So far, eight people have been killed at the Kabul Airport on Monday. While five died during the firing by the US troops to disperse the crowd, three people, who were hiding in the wheels or wings of an aircraft, fell off mid-air and died.

With the Taliban taking over the reins in Afghanistan, some countries have started offering temporary refuge to people fleeing the borders of the war-torn nation. India, Iran, Albania are some in the list.

As the Taliban claimed control over the Afghan capital, several countries evacuated their diplomatic personnel from the country and crowds flocked to the Kabul airport in an attempt to leave Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, Air India flight AI244 carried 129 passengers from Kabul to Delhi on Sunday.

A woman who arrived in Delhi from Kabul broke down into tears saying, “I cannot believe the world abandoned Afghanistan. Our friends are going to get killed…Our women are not going to have any more rights”.

The Afghan nationals who arrived in Delhi on the Air Indian flight expressed their concerns about the safety and security of the people back in their homeland.

Dozens of nations continue to call on all involved in events in Afghanistan to respect and facilitate the departure of foreign nationals and Afghans who wish to leave the country.

Moreover, the former US President Donald Trump has called on his successor Joe Biden to step down after the Afghan government collapsed and went ahead to blame him for all the chaos taking place in Afghanistan.
