Guwahati News Desk: Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has announced on Friday to elect a new party state president in a day or two.
The decision was taken after showing poor results in the recent Assam Assembly Election as the Congress party is looking to change the leadership after its President Ripun Bora tendered his resignation letter after the declaration of results.
According to the sources, two names have been shortlisted for the APCC President they are MP Pradyut Bordoloi and former MLA Bhupen Bora.
The Congress High Command in Delhi is likely to decide among these two in the upcoming days.
Congress party holds a devastating loss in two back-to-back Assam Assembly rlections from the hands of Bharatiya Janata Party. Many Congress leaders have resigned from the party and joined BJP in the last past years. Recently, Mariani MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi resigned from the party and joined BJP.
Back-to-back defeat in the State elections and loss of prominent leaders making their way to BJP have taken Congress party to change the president and to lead with a new way to make a shine in the next elections.
