Assam Police comes up with a witty New Year’s Party Invite

Guwahati News Desk: Netizens got impressed with Assam’s police latest tweet with an invitation poster for drunk drivers in the lockup during this upcoming New Year’s Eve. The social media handles of Assam Police which is known for its witty yet informative posts have now gained much attention after its humorous posts several times that ruled the hearts of many. In the Invitation posted by Assam Police ahead of the New Year celebration, it has warned people to try not to be their guests during this New Year Eve. It wrote ‘free entry for drunk drivers, rash drivers and other eligible violators’.

The poster reads in a sarcastic manner ‘special performance by DJ Lockup’ and ‘on the menu CapCake along with other desert items in Custard-y, Your Nearest Police Station. The poster also shared a WhatsApp number to report any violation.

On the violation of the traffic rules this New Year people of the state will have to spend the night on lockup and also heavy fines will be imposed on them. The way netizens are responding to the latest post by Assam Police with full of humour is expected to go viral soon. In view of maintaining strict vigilance over the drink and drive issue, the Assam police have been checking the vehicles regularly in Guwahati city to avoid any accident ahead of the celebration of New Year.

The driving licenses of many drivers and riders have been suspended during the drive by the Assam police along with the penalty of Rupees 10,000 from each as per the provisions applicable by the panel. The Assam transport department has introduced a fleet of high technology speed interceptor vehicles in light of its attempt in strengthening the campaign against the drive and drive cases and overspeeding so that road accident can be prevented during the festive occasion.

The traffic interceptor vehicles are prepared with the state-of-the-art automatic number plate recognition system that has the unique ability to detect overspeeding, non-wearing of seatbelts in vehicles and non-wearing helmets while riding. It is also equipped with breath analyzers to enforce against driving in a drunken state. Earlier Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma directed the SPs, DCs and other senior officials to keep strict vigilance over drink and drive during the New Year Evening. He warned that people found driving under the influence of alcohol will be the guest of police for the night and they will be allowed to go home the next morning.
