Guwahati News Desk: The rumours have been circulated across the State in recent days that there will be a complete unlock from September 1. Commenting on this on Wednesday, the Assam Health and Family Welfare Minister Keshab Mahanta said that there will be no complete ‘unlock’ in the State and claimed the information baseless.
In the new upcoming SOP, people might get few relaxations as inter-district public communication is likely to resume from September 1 after more than 4 months.
Health Minister Mahanta said, “The health department is ready to tackle the third wave of COVID-19 pandemic as the department is ready to fight with the third wave of the pandemic.”
To tackle COVID-19, the government of Assam has prepared a post-COVID hospital at Kalapahar Hospital with 106 beds in Guwahati by converting it into a facility to treat recovered COVID-19 patients who are suffering from complications.
On the other hand, the schools from Class 9 onwards and colleges are likely to reopen from September 1 which might add in the upcoming SOP to be released by the government of Assam.
Meanwhile on Wednesday, Assam reported fresh 689 COVID-19 cases with 7 death reported as active cases reach to 6,659. The positivity rate reaches 0.76 per cent. Kamrup Metro reported 122 new COVID-19 cases.
