Guwahati News Desk: The government of Assam has set up two committees to propose procedures to evaluate students of class 10 and class 12 after this year board exam were cancelled due to the rising cases of COVID-19 in the State.
The evaluation formula reports for class 12 have been already submitted to Education Minister Ranoj Pegu by the panel while the committee for Class 10 results had submitted the proposals on Thursday.
Education Minister Pegu has forwarded both the evaluation reports to the Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday.
The panel considered all academic activities and the suggestions are based on continuous evaluation says the head of the committee for Class 12 results Vice-Chancellor Prof Dipak Kumar Sharma of Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit and Ancient Studies University (KBVSASU) of Nalbari district.
The result of class 10 will be taken into consideration as there would be continuous evaluation of class 11 and 12, Prof Sharma added.
According to the sources, the members of the panel working on the evaluation process for the class 12 final exams have studied the procedures which were adopted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and other State boards for preparing the report to execute the final marks of the Assam board results keeping the interests of the students are protected.
The committee also suggested the students who might not be satisfied with the final board results can further approach the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC).
The decision on the declaration of toppers results for this year board examination will be completely decided by the State government.
To evaluate the final marks of class 10, the committee has recommended a procedure that the final marks of Class 9 and per-board examinations will be considered to declare the final results.
The class 10 result committee is headed by former Vice-Chancellor of Dibrugarh University and Academic Chairperson of Royal Global University Dr Alok Buragohain.
The two-panel were set up by the State government on June 19 after the cancellation of board exams of class 10 and 12 amid the second wave of COVID-19 as both the committees were given seven days to submit their final reports regarding the results.
The Board of Secondary Education Assam (SEBA) that conducts the class 10 exams and the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) of class 12 examination will prepare the final results by June 30 and will declare the final results on July 31.
