Guwahati News Desk: After the completion of 60 days as Assam Chief Minister, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the state government has decided to start an independent department named Department for Indigenous Faith and Culture for its people.
The announcement was made during the special cabinet meeting held on Saturday. CM Sarma also reviewed the overview of all the works undertaken by the government under his charge.
The opening of the new department decides to preserve and promote the traditions and heritage of the different indigenous communities.
CM Sarma also added that the government of Assam has taken all the responsibility to empower and uplift the development of every community to provide a proper livelihood.
During the meeting, the cabinet has also requested the State Finance Minister Ajanta Neog for the allocation of a substantial budget.
