Guwahati News Desk: In celebratory gunfire in Kabul, at least 17 people were killed on Friday.

The spokesman for an area hospital in the provincial capital of Jalalabad, Gulzada Sangar, informed that the firing took place in Nangarhar province east of the capital after the Taliban fighters seized control of Panjshir, the last province in Afghanistan holding out against the Islamist group.

Meanwhile, leaders of the opposition to the Taliban have denied that the province has fallen.

As per the sources, in Friday’s ‘aerial shooting’, 17 people were killed and 41 were wounded.

The gunfire drew a rebuke from the main Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid.

Through a Twitter post, Mujahid said, “Avoid shooting in the air and thank God instead…The weapons and bullets given to you are public property. No one has the right to waste them. The bullets can also harm civilians, don’t shoot in vain.”

Moreover, the Taliban claimed on Friday that the province has fallen. However, the Northern Resistance Front refuted the claim made by the Taliban.
