The foot over bridge to be demolished within a month which was confirmed by Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA).
Earlier, the Maligaon foot over the bridge was renovated in the year 2018 as two lifts have been installed on both sides.
The bridge played an important role for the localities and also for the passengers who arrived at Guwahati via Kamakhya Railway Station.
After the demolishing of the foot over bridge people will face a tough time while crossing the road but once the flyover will get completed crossing the road will get normal for the localities.
The Maligaon to Kamakhya Gate flyover will cover a distance of 2.9 km as it is the longest flyover and a part of the Guwahati Smart City Project constructed under the Public Works Department (PWD). The total budget of the projects is worth Rs 420.75 crore. The flyover is expected to be completed within the next three years.
The main motive of the government of Assam is to construct the flyover to minimize the regular traffic in Maligaon and people can move towards the city from Guwahati International Airport, AIIMS, and other places without any hardship.
