Australia defeats Sri Lanka by a wicket of 7: T20 World Cup

Guwahati News Desk: Chasing the target of 155 runs, Australia succeeds to defeat Sri Lanka by 7 wickets in the T20 World Cup 2021 match held in Dubai on Thursday.

Starting the innings, Australian openers, David Warner and Aaron Finch added 63 runs in the Powerplay to get their team off to a flyer.

Australia David Warner went strong initially, but later departed after scoring 65 runs in 42 balls while Steve Smith batted intelligently and guided Australia to a win along side Marcus Stoinis.

Regarding Sri Lanka, they had to fight hard in the middle to put 154/6 on the board.

In addition, it was Sri Lanka’s Bhanuka Rajapaksa, who finished strongly and helped the team cross the 150-run mark.

The players of team Australia included of David Warner, Aaron Finch (c), Mitchell Marsh, Steven Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Wade (w), Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa and Josh Hazlewood.

The players of team Sri Lanka included of Kusal Perera (w), Pathum Nissanka, Charith Asalanka, Avishka Fernando, Wanindu Hasaranga, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Dasun Shanaka (c), Chamika Karunaratne, Dushmantha Chameera, Lahiru Kumara and Maheesh Theekshana.

Eventually, the final score of the match between Australia and Sri Lanka mounted up to Australia’s being 155/3 (17) and Sri Lanka’s being 154/6 (20).

Furthermore, it was Adam Zampa who was titled as the “Player of the Match”.
