Guwahati News Desk: The Cachar Police has arrested Pardip Dutta Roy, the Chief convenor of the Barak Democratic Front (BDF) nearly after 8 hours of interrogation for issuing ultimatum of 48 hours to replace an Assamese hoarding with a bengali one.
Cachar, Superintendent of Police (SP) Ramandeep Kaur confirmed the case registered against him at Silchar Sadar Police Station by Hindu Yuva Parishad. Charges have slapped against him under the sections 153, 295, 124, 505, 506.
Notably, in the matter, four others were also detained by the police and quizzed in relation to the smearing of black ink on poster in Silchar Railway Station. Reportedly, the Barak Democratic Front’s (BDF) youth wing’s Kalpanav Gupta, Devraj Dasgupta, and All Bengali Youth Students’ Union members Samar Das and Raju Deb were the ones questioned.
Meanwhile, Roy on Sunday rushed to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) after he complained of chest pain at around 2:30 am. The doctors at the hospital attended Roy and gave him initial treatment. However, he was denied admission in the hospital.
