Guwahati News Desk: The National Committee of Conservation Assured Tiger Standards (CATS) on Wednesday recommended a proposal for Kaziranga, Manas, Nameri and Orang Tiger Reserves for accreditation.
The assessment of CATS was conducted by the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) in 27 Tiger Reserves in the first and 24 to be carried out in the second phase.
The four Tiger Reserves of Assam under Phase 1 has received CATS accreditation.
Besides, the Tiger Reserves of Assam, Kanha, Panna and Sundarbans Tiger Reserves too are awarded CATS accreditation.
Forest Minister of Assam Parimal Suklabaidya in his tweet wrote, “CATS accreditation accorded to 4 Tiger Reserves of Assam will boost the conservation efforts of the big cats. I thank Union @moefcc Minister Shri @PrakashJavdekar ji & the members of the national committee for clearing all the four proposals.”
