Guwahati News Desk: A mysterious death of youth was reported at Rupahihat Bazar which created a tensed situation in the Nagaon district.

According to the sources, the 23-year-old deceased youth was identified as Saif Akhtar, a resident of Laogaon village.

As per report, a huge crowd was found betting cricket match in the newly constructed bridge in Gorematikhuwa for which police official tried to break the crowd.
But as soon the police arrived people standing in the flyover ran away and few jumped into the stream of water.

After the incident, the villagers brought a dead body to the hospital who reportedly died while running away from police.

The crowd broke into the hospital and vandalised hospital properties by destroying doors, windows and furnitures.

However, police officials immediately rushed on the spot to control the situation but the crowd marched towards the police officials and forcefully brought the body of the deceased youth to the Rupahihat Police Station.

A case has been registered against the crowd for violation of COVID protocols and destroying government property and pelting stones on police officials.

Police officials ended up with blank fire using several rounds to control the situation, no injuries were reported in the police firing.
