Guwahati News Desk: A Guwahati-based journalist of “The Times of India” – Prabin Kalita – reported that Himanta Biswa Sarma is the first Assam Chief Minister who is ready to discuss ULFA-I’s core demand of “sovereignty”.
Prabin Kalita is a senior journalist, who covers Assam and Northeast for the said publication.
Refuting the report, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took it to Twitter to issue a clarification on the news published.
“I am aghast to see this news in The Times of India”, reads a tweet by Sarma, today morning.
He adds, “No Chief Minister can discuss Sovereignty of India with anyone. This is non-negotiable.”
He further adds, “We all Indians, irrespective of our positions, are here to protect the sovereignty of India. I strongly refute the news report. This is FALSE.”
