Guwahati News Desk: New 150 COVID-19 positive cases reported in Kamrup metro on Sunday which can be said as a good sign for the Guwahatians as during the last two days Kamrup Metro reported more than 200 COVID-19 cases on Friday and Saturday.
Earlier, the government of Assam has extended the curfew timing from 2 pm till 5 pm as all the commercials established, shops, markets, etc were closed down by 4 pm. On July 10, Kamrup Metro reported 228 cases and on July 9 with 247 cases which are said to be the highest on that particular day among all districts.
According to the sources, many residents of Guwahati were found walking and cycling during the curfew timing which is completely against the administration rules. Rushes can still be seen in many marketplaces across the city as the use of masks is still not followed by bundles of people specially the street vendors.
Increasing cases in Kamrup Metro is dangerousfor every citizen as Guwahati is the economic hub of Assam as the rising cases can completely break down the economy of the city and many youths and people from all across the State and even from other northeastern State are dependent on the corporate jobs like automobile, application-based companies, advertising, hardware, real estate, etc.
Due to the increasing cases, Chief Minister of Assam Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma reviewed the inter-district travel and said that there is no possibility of opening the inter-district ban in any district of Assam.
On the other hand, another positive sign for Assam is COVID-19 active cases were reduced below the 20 thousand marks as the administration is doing all the positive and necessary steps to reduce the increasing mark of cases.
On Sunday, Assam reported new 1,579 COVID-19 positive cases and 16 deaths reported. The positivity rate reaches 1.62 per cent. Total 97,257 COVID tests were conducted and 2,793 people were discharged from the hospital on the same day. The recovery rate of Assam reaches 95.10 per cent.
