Guwahati News Desk: Two people were arrested by Dibrugarh Police with suspected animal horns from the Panchali area of Dibrugarh on Thursday.
Dibrugarh Police seized one rhino horn, one small elephant tusk and 19 grams of heroin from the accused and also recovered a cash of Rs 1.30 lakh.
The accused were identified as Meraj Khan and Aniz Rahman, residents of the Panchali area itself.
The Dibrugarh Police has started interrogation them regarding the seized item as right now the department cannot disclose more information because the investigation is a preliminary state.
Dibrugarh SP Shwetank Mishra said, “The Dibrugarh Police have conducted the raid after getting a close information from a source and on that basis, we have conducted a raid at the residence of one Miraj Khan and seized suspected horn of a rhino, one-piece suspected elephant tusk and 19 grams of brown sugar”.
According to the sources, both Meraj and Aniz were involved in drug trafficking and deals with illegal smuggling of animal parts. It is a big development for the Dibrugarh Police by breaking down the links for the accused.
