Guwahati News Desk: Discontent emerged within the ruling BJP in Karnataka, as several ministerial aspirants could not make it to the Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai’s cabinet.

Regarding the event’s timing, the newly-appointed Council of Ministers of the state government led by Bommai took their oaths at 2.15 pm on Wednesday.

The oath-taking ceremony took place at the Glass House of Raj Bhavan in Bengaluru.

The voices of discontent emerged within the Karnataka BJP just hours after CM Bommai inducted 29 ministers in his first cabinet expansion.

The aspirants and their supporters openly voiced their displeasure on the new state cabinet.

Even thirteen districts expressed their discontent on not getting any representation in the cabinet. These thirteen districts included of – Mysuru, Kalaburagi, Ramanagara, Kodagu, Raichur, Hassan, Vijayapura, Ballari, Davangere, Kolar, Yadgir, Chikkamagaluru and Chamarajanagara.

The list of former ministers who didn’t make it to the new cabinet include the names like – Jagadish Shettar, Suresh Kumar, Laxman Savadi, Arvind Limbavali, Shrimant Patil, R Shankar and C P Yogeshwar.

Upset over not being inducted, Shankar, who is among the legislators who had joined the BJP after quitting the Congress-JD(S) coalition in 2019, said he was surprised as to why he was not made the minister “despite assurance”. However, he did express his hope about being part of the Ministry in the days to come.

Similarly, the Haveri MLA, Neharu Olekar, said, “I’m from the SC community. I have got elected three times and despite being a party loyalist, I’m not made minister…the reason for this is because Bommai feels that I’m inferior.”

Meanwhile, angry supporters of leaders who did not make it to the cabinet staged protests in several districts of the state.
