Guwahati News Desk: The district administration of Darrang district and Assam Police conducted a drive against illegal encroachments at Sipajhar in Darrang district on Monday.
The administration and Assam Police cleared about 4,500 bighas by evicting 800 households including private institutions. JCB were brought to evict illegal structure in the Darrang district which has been set up with illegal manners.
Four illegal religious structures have also been demolished by the administration.
The eviction was aimed at starting community farming by removing encroachment.
Earlier on June 7, the Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma had inspected riverine areas encroached by illegal settlers near Dholpur Shiva Mandir.
The Assam CM assured template management and its local people to set up Manikut, build a guest house and boundary wall.
