Guwahati News Desk: Former Chief Minister of Assam and Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal has filed his nomination for the Rajya Sabha polls from Assam in Dispur at the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday in presence of Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) nominated Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal for the Rajya Sabha by election schedule to be held on October 4.
The Bharatiya Janata Party also nominated Minister of State L Murugam from Madhya Pradesh as five of the six Rajya Sabha seats fell vacant after the resignation of members from West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh.
According to the sources the Minister of State L Murugan will be the partyâs nominee for the vacancy that has arisen in Madhya Pradesh State.
