Guwahati News Desk: A huge quantity of drugs worth Rs 1.25 crore was seized by Srirampur inter-state check gate at Kokrajhar district on Tuesday.
It’s one of the huge drug operation by Assam Police team led by Sub Inspector Lalhemseng seized the consignment weight 622 kg from a truck bearing registration number PB-08DS-6178 from National Highway-31in Srirampur.
The truck was immediately seized and two persons were arrested in the drug connection, but the main driver somehow managed to escape from the spot. The consignment was concealed in the container of the truck in 61 packets.
Two arrested people were identified as Pritam Singh and Tapas Adikari who hails from Kolkata city of West Bengal.
The Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma directed the Assam Police to launch an operation against illicit drugs across the States and following which, Assam Police has launched multiple operations against drug and drugs peddlers to eliminate same from the State.
In the recent development, the Assam Police has broken down the chain of drugs as its now becoming very hard for the peddlers to survive as police officials had left nothing and arrested the peddlers by putting them behind the bars.
