Guwahati News Desk: A father and his seven-year-old son were charred to death after their two-wheeler laden with firecrackers exploded on Thursday.
The incident was reported from Kottakuppam village near Puducherry.
The two departed souls who were immediately killed on the spot have been identified to be the 32-year old Kalainesan and his 7-year old Pradeesh.
According to the police, planning to sell the crackers for Diwali, Kalainesan and his son had purchased two gunny bags of firecrackers and were riding towards Puducherry.
As per the sources, the Villupuram District DIG Pandian reached the spot soon after the incident.
Meanwhile, the police have registered a case and are probing the matter.
In addition, three others who were in close proximity to the bike also sustained serious injuries. They were taken to the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) in Puducherry for treatment.
Moreover, the entire incident was recorded on a CCTV camera that shows Kalainesan riding the scooter and his son Pradeep sitting on a bundle of firecrackers, kept on the front side of the two-wheeler. The video further shows the speeding vehicle exploding, killing the boy and his father on the spot.
