Malaya Neog, Tinsukia: Presenting before you one of the very old, popular, tasty and healthy dish of Assam, ‘Fish curry with Spinach, Potato and Tomato’. Coriander leaves and onion are used to add flavour. This fish curry goes well with rice. No spice is added in making this curry and therefore is very healthy. Any kind of fish can be used in making this curry. Here, I have taken Rohu(Rou) fish.
Ingredients:
- Fish (Rohu/Rou) – 6 big pieces
- Spinach(Paleng xaak) – 2/3 bunches (chopped)
- Boiled potatoes – 2 nos
- Tomato – 1no (chopped)
- Onion – 2 nos (sliced)
- Fresh coriander leaves – 1 bunch (chopped)
- Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
- Salt for seasoning
- Warm water – 2 cup
- Mustard Oil – 3/4 tbsp
Method:
Fish pieces are cleaned and washed. And marinated with a little salt, turmeric and kept aside. Heat oil in a pan and half fry fish. Take the fish out and set aside. In the remaining oil add onion and tomatoes and saute for some time. Add boiled potatoes. Now add turmeric powder and salt and fry well. Now add chopped spinach. Cook for 5 mins. Add water and bring to boil. Now put the fried fishes and cover the lid and put it on a medium flame for about 10 mins. Add fresh coriander leaves and turn off the flame.
And my dish is ready to be served…. enjoy!
