Guwahati News Desk : Numerous areas of Guwahati and the state are underwater as a result of the constant rain that has fallen since June 13. People don’t feel safe in their homes. For flood victims, rescue personnel are available around-the-clock. Guwahati residents from several neighborhoods have already been relocated from their homes to safer locations.

Before the incident, there was a water and food shortage. It is getting worse as a result of the circumstances. On June 17, the Guwahati-based “Daman NGO” launched an effort to aid the communities in the different parts of Guwahati City that were being affected by artificial flooding. Following the flooding, daily food supplies were delivered to close flood-affected families. The NGO distributed water bottles, sanitary pads, Maggie, packets of biscuits, candles to the affected people and other necessary items. Tinku Gogoi, Divya, Pranjit, Ranjan, Sameer, Jahidul, and Kanishka who are active members of the NGO were a part of the distribution drive.

To deliver food and water to flood victims, the NGO enlisted the assistance of local banana-powered boat service. In the flood-prone area of Hatigaon, they also conducted a flood relief drive. Numerous families in these locations have been impacted by artificial flooding.

Other areas impacted by the water include Chandmari, Kharghuli, Nizarapar, Anilnagar, Satgaon, and the Pandu-Kamakhya route. For the past three days, most of Guwahati has been without electricity. Up till June 20, Guwahati and the surrounding areas are under a red alert from IMD. 25 districts in the state have 11 lakh people affected, and the flood has claimed 4 lives.
