Guwahati News Desk: Renowned educational institution of Guwahati Gurukul Grammer School was fined with Rs 5 lac by the Fee Regulatory Committee (FRC) of Assam Government for collecting school fees against prescribed rules.
The Gurukul Grammer School situated in Geetanagar received a notice from the FRC on August 11 under sections 13-15 of the Assam Non-Government Educational Institutions (Regulations of Fees) Act of 2018.
According to the sources, the school administration has to refund twice the amount of excess fee amount collected from the students within a given time of 15 days from the receipt of the order from the FRC department.
According to the sources, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the institution has increased the fees by violating norms by providing regular notice to students and parents for immediate clearance of school fees.
A huge burden was put on the parents during the pandemic as many students were facing hard times and struggling with financial crises.

Parents even complaint to the school administration about the high tuition fees but they have not listened to anyone and started sending notice for fees.
