Guwahati News Desk: Amid the Indian Premier League (IPL) season, the crime branch of Guwahati Police busted a betting racket at Fancy Bazar and Athgaon in Guwahati City on Monday.
The crime branch recovered a cash of Rs 26.42 lakh including four mobile phones.
A raid was conducted at the residence of bookies Ashok and Manoj Kumar Jain as both both the accused managed to fled away.
Earlier, the crime branch holds a recorded interrogation with the three apprehended bookies Dipesh Bajoria, Raunak Bajoria and Rajesh Jain. As based on further information raid was carried out on one absconding bookie Ajay Agarwal. Guwahati Police recovered a cash of Rs 3.66 lakh.
According to the sources, the following gamblers are absconding brother of Nabin Goyal and Praveen Goyal who were operating the betting racket from ABC and Beltola.
On the other hand, Anil Rathi and Vikash Agarwal who operated from New Delhi having their residence in Dhirenpara and Amit Chetia and Narayan Tiwari operated the racket from Fancy Bazar.
