The city police stated that the illegal selling of seep meat was going on by some butchers in the markets of Guwahati. Various shops in Guwahati that sold meat have been seized by the Police including the major outlets in the city Ujjain Bazar, Ulubari and Paltanbazar. According to the reports by Assam police, the people involved in the smuggling of the supply of sheepmeat imports the illegal meets from one of the goat markets located in Juripar of Guwahati, Assam.

The police informed that the meat sellers at first preserve the sheepmeat and then as per their convenience they sell it to different customers. The police have not just raided the meat markets in the city but also conducted a raid on a number of fish markets available in different regions.
