Guwahati News Desk: The yearly homage ceremony on the ocassion of the 13th anniversary of the series of dreadful October 30 blasts in Guwahati city was organized on Saturday.
The ceremony was organized by the Kamrup (M) District Administration under the Ganeshguri flyover, which was also one of the sites targeted by the blasts.
Several religious persons from different religions offered prayers in respect of the departed souls in the unfortunate incident.
In addition, MLA Parimal Suklabaidya, MLA Chandra Mohan Patowary, Queen Oja, member of Lok Sabha and MLA from Dispur, Atul Bora were also present in the ceremony to offer their condolences. They further offered floral tribute to the photos of those who lost their lives.
Regarding the terrifying day of 30 October, 2008, it was a “black day” in the pages of history in Assam. On this particular day, a series of blasts took place across the city of Guwahati and other parts of the state, that took away many innocent lives and further injured several others for life.
Hence, every year a homage ceremony is observed under the Ganeshguri flyover (one of the blast sites) with the motive of paying tribute to all the departed souls.
Moreover, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma also offered his condolences through Twitter.
