Guwahati News Desk: Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said a road in Guwahati City to be named after the Tokyo Olympics bronze medallist boxer Lovlina Borgohain.
The announcement was made during during the felicitation programme organised by government of Assam for Lovlina at Kalashetra in Guwahati.
Boxer Lovlina was felicitated by Assam CM Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday.
During the felicitation ceremony, Lovlina was awarded with Rs 1 crore by the State government along with a traditional ‘Muga Shawl’ and a traditional Assamese ‘Xorai’ and a rhino figurine.
During the programme, CM Sarma urges Assam Police to post Lovlina as the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).
A sports project will be set up at Sarupathar in Lovlina’s name at a cost of Rs 25 lakh and Lovlina to receive Rs 1 lakh per month till the commencement of Paris Olympics 2024.
All four trainer of Lovlina received Rs 10 lakh each by the State government.
On Friday, Lovlina headed back to the national capital from Guwahati International Airport to take part in the Independence Day ceremony as all the Olympics medallist winners visit in the pride occasion.
