Guwahati News Desk: Adding to the developmental activities in the state as well as in the city, the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority are touching up on their latest project at Adabari, Guwahati.
Located right opposite to Pantaloons shopping mall at Adabari, GMDA’s latest project is a park dedicated to showcasing Assam’s rich cultural heritage. This would be the next major addition in Guwahati to the existing circuit of similar projects like the Shradhanjali Kanan in Zoo Road and Nehru Park in Kachari.
The park would feature usual rest benches alongside a community hall and a system of eateries inside campus, similar to the Shradhanjali Kanan. Laying in the same route as Kamakhya Temple, the park is expected to be a major tourist attraction. It is also located handily at a ten minutes’ drive from the Kamakhya Railway Station and falls in the route into city from Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi Airport.
Assamese handicrafts finds a major representation inside the premises of the under-construction park. Motifs of Japi (headdress), ghoti (water vessel) and dhul, pepa etc including other Assamese musical instruments appear as motifs on the walls of the unfinished project.
The project would be expected to add to the city-economy alongside being a major showcase for tourists to learn more about Assamese culture while enjoying a playful atmosphere in the otherwise hustling and bustling Adabari area of Guwahati.
