Guwahati News Desk: In a drug heist operation, the Assam Police recovered a considerable amount of brown sugar from the Sonitpur district on Wednesday.
The recovered drugs amounted to approximately around Rs 3 lakh. Four mobile phones and some cash amounting to Rs 5900 were also seized.
The drug peddler has been identified as a woman named Sumi Lama Das, who is the wife of Nazrul Islam. The police have nabbed both of them.
According to sources, the drugs were recovered at her residence during a raid. Further investigation is going on to find any linkages relating to the case.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Raha Police and Anti Narcotic Squad of Nagaon arrested four drug peddlers at Chaparmuk railway station in Nagaon district and seized 120 grams of heroin worth Rs 85 lakhs.
120 grams of heroin which were packed in ten soap cases and were kept hidden underneath the clothes of one accused Sitara Begum. Other three accused have been identified as Ainul Haque, Rosidul Haque and Wadiqul Islam.
