Guwahati News Desk: Succeeding to keep their slim chance of reaching semifinals of T20 World Cup alive, team India beat Afghanistan by 66 runs in their Super 12 match. The match took place at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.

In Wednesday’s match, the openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul put on a record 140-run partnership to power India to a massive 210 for 2. Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant remained not out on 35 and 27 respectively. In addition, Mohammed Shami took three wickets while Ravichandran Ashwin got two, and Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja grabbed one wicket each.

For Afghanistan, they lost two early wickets at the very start of their chase as Jasprit Bumrah removed Zazai and Mohammed Shami got the wicket of Mohammad Shahzad.

However, it was Afghanistan’s Karim Janat, who top-scored with 42 not out while Mohammad Nabi contributed 35.

Thus, with the 66-run win, India not only opened their account, they also improved their NRR to +0.073.

The players of team India included of KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli (c), Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah.

The players of team Afghanistan included of Hazratullah Zazai, Mohammad Shahzad (wk), Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Najibullah Zadran, Mohammad Nabi (c), Gulbadin Naib, Sharafuddin Ashraf, Rashid Khan, Karim Janat, Naveen-ul-Haq and Hamid Hassan.

Eventually, the final score of the match between India and Afghanistan mounted up to India’s being 210/2 (20.0) and Afghanistan’s being 144/7 (20.0). Furthermore, it was Rohit Sharma who was titled as the “Player of the Match”.

Regarding the match between New Zealand and Scotland, team New Zealand beat Scotland by 16 runs in their Super 12 fixture of the T20 World Cup, the match took place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai, on Wednesday.

Chasing a target of 173, Scotland was off to a promising start as Matthew Cross smashed five fours off Adam Milne in the sixth over to take his side to 48/1 within the Powerplay after skipper Kyle Coetzer fell for 17.

However, team Scotland managed to attain only 156 for five in 20 overs, with Michael Leask playing an unbeaten knock of 42 runs.

On the other hand, the openers of New Zealand were in their top form, smashing six fours and seven sixes.

In addition, team New Zealand’s Trent Boult and Ish Sodhi were in good bowling form as they successfully took two wickets.

New Zealand initially posted 172 for five in 20 overs, along with the courtesy of a 93-run knock by Martin Guptill.

The players of team Scotland included of George Munsey, Kyle Coetzer (c), Matthew Cross (wk), Richie Berrington, Calum MacLeod, Michael Leask, Chris Greaves, Mark Watt, Safyaan Sharif, Alasdair Evans, Brad Wheal

Eventually, the final score of the match between New Zealand and Scotland mounted up to New Zealand’s being 172/5 (20.0) and Scotland’s being 156/5 (20.0).

Furthermore, it was Martin Guptill who was titled as the “Player of the Match”.
