Guwahati News Desk: The administration of Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve (KPNTR) has announced to reopen it for tourists from October 1.
The KNPTR was closed with immediate effect after the rising of COVID-19 cases in the State.
The administration also informed that the national park will reopen from October 1 if the flood problem does not arise in Kaziranga.
According to the sources, the flood level cannot be ignored at the time of the reopening of the park as the water level of the Brahmaputra in Pasighat is rising even if it is not flooded so far. The administration also added if the floods ended then immediately damaged routes due to rain will be repaired in September and the national park can be open for tourists from first October.
The KNPTR is to add a new 15 kilometers road in the Bagcher Hills for tourist track in the coming year. The administration also planned to keep the Bagari Forest open for the Bandardubi tourists.
According to the sources, the KPNTR usually have 70 to 80 thousand of local tourist and in the last year, it has created the record of more than 2 lakh local tourist. The international tourist is not allowed due to the COVID-19 situation as the administration is expected to see a rise in local tourists after the reopening of the national park.
