Guwahati News Desk: According to the fourth Health Index launched by the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) Aayog, Kerala has once again succeeded to emerge as the top-ranking state in terms of overall health performance among larger states.
Regarding the fourth round of the Health Index, it took into account the period 2019-20 (reference year).
In addition, the recent report was prepared in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare with technical assistance from the World Bank.
Taking to Twitter the NITI Aayog said, “The Health Index is a step towards helping States & UTs develop robust healthcare systems, track progress on health outcomes, build healthy competition & encourage cross-learning.”
As per the recent government reports, Tamil Nadu and Telangana emerged as the second and third best performers, respectively, on health parameters, while Uttar Pradesh emerged to be the worst among all.
Moreover among the smaller states, Mizoram emerged as the best performer in overall performance as well as incremental performance, while among UTs, Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir ranked among the bottom UTs in terms of overall performance but emerged as the leading performer in terms of incremental performance.
Furthermore, the health index is a very significant as well as a powerful tool for tracking the progress on health outcomes and health systems performance all across the country.
