Guwahati News Desk: Kshetrimayum Vedamani Devi, an incubatee of Assam Agricultural University’s agri-tech incubator NEATEHUB (North-East Agriculture Technology Entrepreneurs Hub), has been awarded the prestigious “She for change Global Award for Excellence in Women Empowerment” on 22 March.
Devi received the prestigious award from the Republic of Women Organization for working to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal of the United Nations.
The award was presented by Union Minister of Jal Shakti, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in a ceremony held in New Delhi, on the occasion of World Water Day observations on March 22.
It carries a citation referring to the selected women achievers in UN countries working towards the improvement of people’s lives through innovative entrepreneurship.
Vedamani who hails from Sagolband of Manipur and the founder of VedamArgo Enterprise, a food procession start-up was amongst ten women achievers across the nation to be honored with the award.
Since its inception, the start-up has shown commitment towards improving the lives of women entrepreneurs in food processing across Manipur and the north-eastern region.
The activities of the start-up align with the Sustainable Development Goal 1 of the United Nations. Speaking at the ceremony, Jal Shakti Minister Shekhawat stressed the sustainable livelihood programs as the need of the hour and lauded the efforts of entrepreneurs.
Presently, Vedamani Devi is working with the entrepreneurs of North East in finding ways, to improve their livelihood through networking in production and marketing.
It may be mentioned that Vedamani’s work has brought her many laurels together with the “Humanitarian of the Year 2020 Award” conferred by I Can Foundation, India regarding, her notable humanitarian efforts in entrepreneurship.
