Guwahati News Desk: Government of Assam soon to shut down all governement-run madrassas in the State, said Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and other State Ministers. In Assam there are around 614 government madrassas and around 900 private madrassas, most of which run by Jamiat Ulama. Government of Assam annually spends about Rs 3 crore to Rs 4 crore in madrassa.
