Guwahati News Desk: A group of miscreants reportedly misbehaved and assaulted on-duty officials of Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) at Zoo Road on Tuesday.
The incident took place in front of Jonali Electricals at Jonali when GMC workers were engaged in cleaning roads.
In an officials press release, the incident took place at around 11 am as a total of 4-5 group got off from a Swift Desire having registration number AS-01-HC-5235 and threw garbage at the main road.
During the time officials of GMC along with ACS Satyajit Baruah were inspecting the works of GMC.
The GMC officials tried to restrain them from throwing garbage in the road and make them understand the hard work contributed by the GMC officials while cleaning.
Soon after that, the group of people argued and assaulted the GMC on-duty officials and also threatened to repeat similar brawls in the future.
One of the employee of GMC tried to visualize the whole incident and argument but later they ended with slang language and physically assaulted him.
An FIR has been lodged in Gitanagar Police Station on Wednesday, enquire has already started by the officials.
According to the sources, one of the miscreants has been identified as Asish Sankar who is a resident of Jonali and also the landlord of the shop Jonali Electricals.
The suspension of the trade licence of the Jonali Electricals is underway.
